About:
Set at a maximum security psychiatric asylum outside London in the summer of 1959, this is the story of the wife, Stella (Richardson), of a psychiatrist who has recently moved there with her husband, Max (Bonneville), who is the new superintendent. We see their story unfold through the eyes of Dr. Peter Cleave (McKellen), one of the institute's psychiatrists. Stella soon finds herself falling in love with one of the asylum's patients, Edgar Stark (Csokas), a talented sculptor convicted of the disfigurement and murder of his own wife, who is working on the restoration of the asylum's dilapidated Victorian Era conservatory, which is right behind Stella and Max's house.
