Hamlet 2 (2008)
A failed actor-turned-worse-high-school-drama teacher rallies his Tucson, AZ, students as he conceives and stages a politically incorrect musical sequel to Shakespeare's "Hamlet." One of few buzz-generating films at Sundance earlier this year, H2 grabbed headlines for its pricey acquisition and warmly received reviews. Having seen the film, I can assert that it's worth seeing as another example of Coogan's ability to rise above any material he's handed, but its by-the-numbers story arc and surprisingly unfunny songs (seeing that "South Park"'s Pam Brady is the co-writer) certainly don't add up to anything all that memorable. Coogan pushes the envelope; sadly, he's mostly alone in the endeavor, except for a ballsy turn by Elisabeth Shue, playing an alternate-future version of herself. However, something tells us this could be a hit with the younger generation.
What Just Happened (2008)
"What Just Happened" is a winningly sharp comedy about two nail-biting, back-stabbing, roller-coaster weeks in the world of a middle-aged Hollywood producer (De Niro) as he tries to juggle an actual life with an outrageous series of crises in his day job. The film is a rollicking, shrewd tale of a man besieged by people who want him to be all sorts of things -- a money maker, an ego buster, a bad-news breaker, an artistic champion, a loyal husband, an all-knowing father, not to mention sexy, youthful and tuned-in -- everything except for the one thing he and all the preposterously behaved people he's surrounded by really are: bumbling human beings just trying to survive by any means necessary.
Solstice (2007)
Into the Wild (2007)
The young, idealistic Christopher McCandless (Hirsch) abandons life as most of us know it for the Alaskan wilderness. Based on the bestseller by Jon Krakauer.

Friends with Money (2006)
Jennifer Aniston, Frances McDormand, Joan Cusack and Catherine Keener star as a quartet of west coast, life-long friends who have achieved a level of comfort in their lives and have now settled into a life of designer clothes, charity events, and caring for the men (and offspring) in their lives. But as they approach 'a certain age,' unsettling things are starting to throw their comfortable lives off balance.
Capote (2005)
On November 15, 1959, the brutal murder of a family in a small Kansas town sent shockwaves through the nation and captured the attention of one of the most distinctive minds of our time. One-of-a-kind author Truman Capote was sent to Kansas to pen an article about the crimes for The New Yorker magazine. He ended up writing one of the most celebrated books of the century. Capote follows Truman Capote (Hoffman) on his odyssey to create the landmark bestseller "In Cold Blood." With signature style and mordant wit - and his friend Harper Lee (Keener) in tow - Capote attempts to charm the locals and work his way into the story behind the murders. He's soon shocked, however, to find himself forming a friendship with one of the killers, Perry Smith (Collins). As the book nears completion and execution day approaches, Capote finds himself torn in directions he never anticipated and is forever changed by his experiences.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
40-year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has done quite a few things in his life. He\'s got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there\'s just one little thing he hasn\'t quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Andy\'s never, ever, ever had sex. His friends at the store consider it their duty to help, but nothing proves effective enough until he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), a 40-year-old mother of three. Andy\'s friends are psyched by the possibility that \"it\" may finally happen...until they hear that Andy and Trish have begun their relationship based on a mutual no-sex policy.
The Interpreter (2005)
Kidman stars as African-born U.N. interpreter Silvia Broome, who inadvertently overhears a death threat against an African head of state scheduled to address the United Nation\'s General Assembly. Realizing she\'s become a target of the assassins as well, Silvia\'s desperate to thwart the plot...if only she can survive long enough to get someone to believe her. Sean Penn is Tobin Keller, the federal agent charged with protecting the interpreter, who nonetheless suspects she may not be telling the whole truth. Silvia and Tobin, by nature, see life from different points of view: one, a U.N. interpreter, believes in the power and sanctity of words; the other, a Secret Service agent, believes in reading people based on their behavior, no matter what is said.
