Eddie (Bradley Cooper) is a loser, until he gets hold of some magic pills that allow you to use 100% of your brain, rather than the 20% (max) that us regular folks use.

So what does he use his mega powers for? Getting a hair cut, cleaning up his house and becoming a moghul on the stock market. So far so good, but there are bad guys after his stash and what happens when the pills run out?

All in all, a great idea, but they could have done so much more with this! It's philosophically interesting: would it drive you mad, if you could outthink everyone? Probably, right? Would it make you evil? Possibly. But this movie doesn't go in for ideas. Or much action, really. Apparently, being really, really, mega-smart makes you cut your hair and do your dishes. Really?

Robert De Niro does a good job as a (slightly evil) business man, and Bradley Cooper is okay as Eddie, basically an inconspicuous, uninteresting guy. Nope, don't fancy him at all.

The funniest bit, I thought (here be spoilers) was when Eddie's girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) is on the run from a baddie who wants those pills and Eddie advises her to take one so she can "think her way out". So with her mega brain she has a choice between a baseball bat, pruning shears or a little girl's skates. Guess which one she goes for?
